In late January, our team headed west to Johnson Valley, California, for the legendary King of the Hammers (KOH) event. What we found was an impressive display of off-road enthusiasm, with over 100,000 attendees spread across several miles of desert terrain. The event, which has grown from 12 teams racing for bragging rights to over 530 teams competing before massive crowds, proved to be an invaluable experience for our first KOH appearance.

Making Our Mark in the Desert
We brought several impressive vehicles to showcase our LiquidSpring® suspension capabilities:
- A Renegade RV Veracruz 30VRM
- A Black Edition RAM 3500 equipped with adventure-ready features, like Kuat Racks, 23 Zero tent, and Baja Lights.
We were also joined by Elevation Off Grid, who brought their F-550 all the way from Denver to join our display. All of the trucks handled the terrain of the desert with ease and allowed LiquidSpring to showcase its ability to create smooth rides both on and off-road.
Partners in the Wild
Throughout the event, we were excited to spot several partner vehicles equipped with LiquidSpring systems:
- Buckstop showcased a Dynamax Isata 5 w/Buckstop Accessories and LS Suspension
- Storyteller showcased their overlanding habitat adventure vehicle, the GXV Hilt

Common Questions from the Crowd
We enjoyed meeting everyone who came out to learn more about our suspension systems. Here are the most common questions and our responses:
Will LiquidSpring suspension fit my truck?
LiquidSpring systems are available for a variety of platforms, including Ford and RAM chassis. Specific applications include:
- Ford F-250/350/450/550
- RAM 3500/4500/5500
- Visit our website for a complete compatibility list
Can I install LiquidSpring suspension myself?
While we do offer complete kits for qualified installers, we recommend professional installation through our network of certified partners. However, if you have a preferred shop, they can work with us to complete the installation.
Is LiquidSpring suspension suitable for off-road use?
LiquidSpring systems are designed to improve your journey to your adventure destination. While not built for extreme rock crawling, our suspension provides superior comfort and stability on forest roads, desert trails, and varying terrain. Think of it as the perfect solution for your basecamp vehicle – getting you and your gear to your destination comfortably and safely.
The system also significantly improves your towing experience, reducing trailer bounce and enhancing stability whether you’re pulling a camper, toy hauler, or equipment trailer to your next adventure.

Looking Ahead
Our first King of the Hammers experience provided valuable insights into the off-road and overlanding community. We met enthusiasts who were already familiar with LiquidSpring and introduced our technology to many new faces. The event highlighted the growing interest in advanced suspension solutions for adventure vehicles, particularly among those using their trucks as base camps for off-road adventures.
What stood out most was the dedication of the KOH community – thousands of attendees camping in the desert for up to ten days, all united by their passion for off-road racing and performance vehicles. Stay tuned for more updates as we continue to support the adventure vehicle community and develop solutions that improve your journey to wherever the trail takes you.
